A graduate of Bard College and University at Albany, I am a bilingual educator with twenty-five years of teaching experience, a master's degree and a NYS Professional Teacher Certificate. I have taught Spanish language and literature at Bennington College, Hartwick College, UAlbany, and secondary schools. I have served as World Language Curriculum Leader at an inner-city high school, served as the district interpreter, and successfully started a NYS Seal of Biliteracy program. Currently, I am teaching University in the High School Spanish in a rural district and have opened French and Spanish National Honor Society Chapters and teach Apex Spanish for distance learners. I am an acting member of NYSFLT, ACTFL, COLT, FLACS, and AATSP. I love teaching and have experience teaching students with diverse learning styles, IEPs, 504 plans, and gifted learners. I have researched and worked with children and teachers around differentiation for high ability learners, at the far right of the bell curve, and understand the social/emotional supports that are often needed. I follow the motto of Meliora Cognita, that translates in Latin, to "always striving for better" or "better learning/experience". I am passionate about working with school districts to improve World Language departments and to train educators on identification and accommodation of high ability and twice exceptional learners. I have most recently delivered Professional Development to educators in the Western Suffolk BOCES.
